Carmen and his team are dedicated to rejuvenating your smile, keeping it healthy and restoring your self-confidence in a way that suits your lifestyle. Porcelain veneers and Lumineers can perfect your teeth in as little as two visits.

How do Veneers and Lumineers Work?

Dental veneers are ultra-thin, stain-resistant sheaths of durable tooth-colored material that are affixed to the front surfaces of your existing teeth. They retain the natural look of teeth, correcting a variety of common dental problems. Undesirable issues resolved with the application of veneers and Lumineers include:

  • Yellowing and discoloration from coffee, red wine, tea and tobacco
  • Visible cracks in tooth enamel
  • Chips in front teeth
  • Misaligned or overly crowded teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or misshapen

The end result is a beautiful new set of perfectly aligned, brilliantly white front teeth. You can smile freely with the knowledge that you look fantastic all the time.

Lumineers and porcelain veneers are a simple and long-lasting solution to a flawed smile and may prove just what you need to reclaim yours. Contact our office in Norman, OK to schedule your consultation and see the difference that Dr. Carmen and this revolutionary procedure can make in your life. December 30, 2013

There is no doubt people are very meticulous about what they want their smile to look like. After all, a smile is a first impression, and you want to make the as memorable as possible. Dr. Bobby Carmen is here to make sure your smile looks exactly the way you want it to, which is why we offer tooth-colored fillings for our patients. We know this will be a great way for you to feel confident in your smile again and have you smiling day and night!

There are many advantages to choosing tooth-colored fillings. One of the more popular reasons is because tooth-colored fillings help you not have the mouth full of metal look. Many people want a more innate look when it comes to their dental work, and tooth-colored fillings are able to give you just that. The important aspect about fillings is the fact that it saves your tooth from further harm. When there is a cavity or decay, Dr. Carmen removes the decay and fills the space with the tooth-colored filling. If not treated in the proper amount of time, the problem can worsen, even leading to bone loss.

Rejuvenate Your Smile and Erase Unsightly Gaps with Dental Implants in Norman, OK

November 30, 2013

For patients with one or more missing teeth, dental implants are a revolutionary new tooth replacement method that’s truly transformative. They provide a prosthetic that’s so lifelike and durable that it will be difficult to even remember that you lost the original pearly white; even better, they help prevent jawbone deterioration with the help of a small, titanium post – a problem that patients who rely on dentures or bridges have no solid solution for. While several dentists are able to place restorations, Dr. Bobby Carmen has taken several advanced courses in implant dentistry, qualifying him to be able to take you through every step of the implants process in one convenient location.

How does the dental implant process work?

While it takes longer to receive a full dental implant than a bridge or denture, the dental implants process is considered ultimately more rewarding. First, Dr. Carmen will determine whether you’re a viable candidate for the procedure with a thorough examination. Then, you’ll undergo a brief oral surgery, in which we’ll place a small, titanium post into the empty socket. You will require some time to heal from this event; once you have, you’ll return to our Norman office so that Dr. Carmen can place a customized crown atop the post and complete the procedure.

What are the benefits?

Benefits of having dental implants include:

  • Function – dental implants closely mimic natural teeth, providing patients with much-needed comfort and stability in their new smile.
  • Success – the success rate for dental implant placement is an impressive 98%!
  • Longevity – if cared for properly, dental implants can last for a lifetime, unlike bridges and dentures, which need to be replaced every 7 to 10 years.

Keep Your Teeth Healthy and Happy with Root Canal Treatment in Norman, OK

January 16, 2013

Keep Your Teeth Healthy and Happy with Root Canal Treatment in Norman, OK

Out of all the dental procedures and treatments you can undergo, “root canal” always seems to be the phrase that scares potential patients the most. Maybe the amount of pain experienced during the procedure has been exaggerated over time, or the supposed invasiveness is simply unsettling to think about. When all is said and done, root canal treatment certainly isn’t as bad as it’s been built up to be; in fact, it’s a crucial procedure that can rescue heavily decayed or infected teeth from needing to be extracted. With the help of up-to-date tools and sedation dentistry herein Norman, OK, Dr. Bobby Carmen and his team can help your root canal treatment be as quick and comfortable as possible, getting you back to smiling sooner.

How can I tell if I need treatment for a root canal?

Here are some common symptoms:

  • Serious tooth pain when chewing
  • Swelling and tenderness in the gums
  • A dark discoloration of a tooth
  • Prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures

What happens during root canal treatment?

“Root canal” refers to the internal structure of the tooth that contains “the pulp” (the nerve). Treatment is necessary when a crack or decay exposes that inner area to bacteria and infection. Dr. Carmen will clean out all the bacteria and now-diseased pulp from the tooth then fill it with a biologically inert substance before sealing it shut again. He might also suggest other restorative measures, such as a crown, to fully restore the affected tooth to tip-top shape.

Okay, but it is going to hurt?

Root canal treatment is extremely effective, and many teeth that have undergone the procedure go on to last a lifetime. Dr. Carmen uses every tool and technique to minimize discomfort, and when all is said and done, most patients say that the pain is no worse than it is when receiving a common filling.

If you think you might be in need of root canal treatment, don’t wait any longer to seek out help! Dr. Carmen and his team are committed to providing you with excellent, personalized care that always puts your safety and comfort first. Air Abrasion: A Safe Alternative Without a Drill!

November 21, 2012

Has the sound or sight of a drill kept you away from visiting your dentist? You’re not alone. It’s hard not to forget the piercing sounds, smelling the burning and seeing the smoke. Even worse, the pain of lying helpless in a chair during the procedure. Ease those fears and forget those horror stories with the wonderful option of air abrasion!

Dr. Carmen and his excellent staff have the means and the technology to give you a relatively painless experience with air abrasion. As a popular option in children’s dentistry, the option works just as well for adults. There’s no shame or embarrassment here. It’s completely normal to have anxiety about a procedure of this magnitude, but you shouldn’t let important dental work fall to the wayside.

Here’s how it works:

  • Your tooth (or teeth) is sprayed with a steady stream of aluminum oxide particles
  • By going this route, the chances of chipping or fracturing are very small.
  • Your teeth are not subjected to vibrations, heat, or sound like what you find with a drill.
  • There is little or no need for anesthetic.
  • The procedure is brief, so multiple or all your spots can be taken care in one visit.

Your oral health is important, and air abrasion can also help with the following:

  • Removal of old composite restorations
  • Preparation for a sealant
  • Removal of stains

Imagine the power of dental work in only a few minutes without the pain, and especially without the fear of a drill. Dr. Carmen and his team are happy to answer any questions you have about air abrasion. Call our office to schedule a consultation. We proudly serve patients from The University of Oklahoma, Norman, Moore, Central Oklahoma, and surrounding areas.

Custom-Made Crowns in a Single Visit with CEREC

May 25, 2012

When individual teeth become vulnerable, dentists will often restore them with a crown.  A traditional crown procedure takes at least two visits—one to prep your tooth and another to put your crown in place. But at Dr. Carmen’s Norman dental office, we’re simplifying this process into just one visit, all thanks to CEREC technology.

CEREC crowns are made from durable dental porcelain and can be custom-milled in our office in about an hour. There’s absolutely no temporary crown to worry about, and you can leave our office with your new smile that same day.

A Restored Smile in Just One Appointment

When you come to our Norman office for a CEREC restoration, Dr. Carmen will start by creating a 3D image of your tooth. Then, while you’re relaxing in our office, our CEREC machine will use the information we’ve gathered to make your custom-made crown.

Compare that to the traditional process, where a temporary crown is put in place. With CEREC, instead of spending a week worrying about a temporary crown, you can enjoy a healthy, restored smile after just one appointment.

Want to learn more? Visit our CEREC page or call us today with your questions. Dr. Carmen gladly serves patients from The University of Oklahoma, Norman, Moore, Central Oklahoma, and surrounding areas.
